Analysis Paddington

 Homework

I choose a movie clip from the movie Paddington!

Link: https://youtu.be/0FrJCYT7Q9k

I chose this scene because it makes clear that Paddington isn’t with his natural family. In the scene before he lives in his old nature again but then the reality comes out and he’s actually standing in front of a Beamer. They made the scene so gray and sad to make clear that he isn’t with his family anymore and kinda lonely. He hasn’t found his forever home yet.

Medium close up-  to set the priority Paddington and his home

Eye level- setting the focus on him and the background, the body would be unnecessary for the shot and would move the focus away

Single shot - to show his loneliness

I choose this scene because it show the character of the das really well! He is one of the most important character and he has his strong opinion against Paddington. He thinks bears just bring mess in his life. In this shot you can clearly see that he want organisation in his life. The one shot explain his whole character and opinion to changes.
Insert shot- focussing on his lifestyle.
Extreme closeup- just showing his organisation skills and nothing else, to make clear his urge.
Overhead- to show a overview of his organisation, show his urge more the using a different angle.

This shot shows  me the first starting of the patchwork family. They are all together and watch a  video together.

Crowd shot- they used the crowd shot to involve the whole family (mom at the camera)

Master shot- to show the whole room. In this case the attic with old stuff. Reason: in one scene they talk about the old toys of the dad. Reminder to the toys and his character and relationship with Paddington.

Angel- not clear for me…

I chose this scene because it shows me how Paddington changed everything in the family. They kiss each other because they found love in their relationship again. The dad is full of joy. At the beginning he was really grumpy and strict.
Two shot- to show the love between them
Medium full shot- to show the way they hug each other. The body languages show their love.
Angle- not sure, I will ask tomorrow:)

They made this scene to show that Paddington try’s to live more and more like a human. And try to adjust to the normal family and human live.
Single shot- it’s only about Paddingtons own and new experiences
Medium close up- to set the focus on the action he does
Eye level-  setting the focus on paddingtons actions.

comment:
Well done Lena - I know all the new terminology must be hard!
You don't need to worry about an angle if there isn't a clear low/high angle.

WWW: you've correctly identified the shot types and linked them to the meanings conveyed.
EBI: try writing in full sentences and paragraphs - this way you can bring certain elements together rather than repeating yourself.
target for next analyse:

- study the topic more, target to fill out every question given
- writing more fluently with more diffe                                                                                              rensentence beginnings
- stopping to repeat myself and work harder on
